The NFL professional football team Tennessee Titans are based out of Nashville, Tennessee. They are an American Football Conference member in the South Division. They play at Nashville's LP Field. The training facility of the team is at 31 acre Baptist Sports Park, a site in the MetroCenter Complex five miles north of Nashville.

Originally, the team was the Houston Oilers. They were an American Football League charter member, beginning play in 1960. The first two championships of the AFC were won by the Oilers. After the AFL and NFL merged in 1971, the Oilers became a member of the NFL.

In 1997, the Oilers moved to Tennessee from Houston, Texas. The played temporarily for one season in Memphis before they moved to Nashville. The team for two seasons was called the Tennessee Oilers. In 1999, they changed their name to the Titans.
