The NFL professional football team Minnesota Vikings are based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They are a member of the National Football Conference's North Division. The home games for the team are played in Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team's headquarters are located in Eden Prairie, Minnesota at Winter Park. Their summer training camps are held at the Mankato campus of Minnesota State University.

The start of professional football in Minneapolis began during the 1920-1930s with a teams called the Minneapolis Marine and Red Jackets. An ownership group in Minneapolis was awarded an American Football League Franchise in 1959, but it was forfeited when they were awarded a National Football League Franchise in 1961. The Vikings became the NFL's 14th team.

The Vikings are one of the more successful franchises in the NFL. Currently their winning percentage is fifth highest in the NFL. Before the AFL-NFL merger in 1970 the Vikings won an NFL Championships. Minnesota lost Super Bowl IV to Kansas City 23-7. The Vikings are the winners of 18 division titles. The team has played in nine Championship games but has not won a Super Bowl.
