kansas city chiefs History

The NFL professional football team Kansas City Chiefs are based out of Kansas City, Missouri. They are an American Football Conference member in the Western Division. The team was founded in 1960 by Lamar Hunt and were originally called the Dallas Texans. They were an American Football League charter member. The team in 1963 moved to Kansas City and renamed themselves the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs during the 1960 to 1969 time span were a very successful AFL franchise. They won three league championship and hold the best record in AFL history at 92-50-5. Kansas City won Super Bowl IV. Their defeat of the Minnesota Vikings made them the second team from the AFL to beat an NFL franchise in a Championship Game, following the New York Jets. The January 1970 Super Bowl win is still the last championship game appearance and victory to date for the Kansas City Chiefs.
