green bay packers History

The NFL professional football team Green Bay Packers are based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin. The team is a member of the National Football Conference's North Division. They are the NFL's third oldest franchise. The Packers headquarters and home games are played at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The team was established in 1919 by George Whitney Calhoun and Earl "Curly" Lambeau. The Packers in 1919-1920 played as a semi-professional team, competing against other Wisconsin and Midwestern teams. In 1921 they became an American Professional Football Association member, which was the forerunner of the National Football League.

Twelve league champions have been won by the Green Bay Packers, which is the most of any NFL team. They won nine NFL Championships before the era of the Super Bowl and have also won three Super Bowls (1967, 1968 and 1996).
