Clemson University's football team, the Clemson Tigers (also called the Clemson University Fighting Tigers), are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference's Atlantic Division as part of the NCAA's Football Bowl Division I Subdivision.

Clemson began to play college football in 1896 and has an all-time record of 625-426-45 for a .591 winning percentage. The Tigers won their one national championship in 1981. They defeated the No. 4 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers by a score of 22-25 in the Orange Bowl and were voted to be the No. 1 team by both the UPI and AP polls. The Tigers have also won 17 Conference Titles and were the ACC's Atlantic Division champions in 2009. Clemson's postseason bowl record is 16-16. Their last bowl win came in 2009 at the Music City Bowl when the Clemson Tigers defeated the Kentucky Wildcats by a score of 21-13. Clemson University has produced 17 consensus All-Americans.

The home games of the Clemson Tigers are played in Clemson, South Carolina at Memorial Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 80,301. The current head coach of the Tigers is Dabo Swinney, who was hired at the end of 2008.
