arizona cardinals History

The NFL professional football team Arizona Cardinals are based out of Glendale, Arizona. The team plays in the National Football Conference's Western Division. Their home games are played at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale and their headquarters are located in Tempe, Arizona. The Cardinals summer training camps are held in Flagstaff, AZ at Northern Arizona University.

The Cardinals were first established in 1898 in Chicago and became an NFL charter member in 1920. The Chicago Bears and Cardinals are the only two remaining original NFL franchises. In 1960 the team relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. They played in St. Louis until 1987 before moving to Tempe, Arizona.

The only NFL championship for the Cardinals occurred in 1947 when they were still in Chicago. The Cardinals are the winners of four division titles and appeared in Super Bowl XLIII following the 2008 season where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
